Only four years after being created, the Cartagena International Music Festival has established itself as one of Colombia’s most significant cultural events. Comprised by nine days of concerts, classes and seminars, the festival takes places in several stages throughout the walled city and its surrounding neighborhoods.
This year, on the festival’s fifth anniversary, the main theme will be “The Glory of Johann Sebastian Bach” and for this reason, his Concerts avec plusiers instruments (“concerts with a diversity of instruments”) will be showcased. This series of six concerts was originally written at the request of the Margrave of Brandenburg, Christian Ludwing, and dates from the year 1721. Lost for more than a century, it was rediscovered in the archives of Brandenburg Library in 1849 and published for the first time the following year.
V Festival Internacional de Música en Cartagena

Con tan sólo 4 años de haber sido creado, el Cartagena Festival Internacional de Música se ha establecido como uno de los eventos culturales más significativos de Colombia. 9 días de conciertos, clases magistrales, conferencias llenan distintos escenarios de la ciudad amurallada y algunos de los barrios de Cartagena.
Esta vez, en el 2011, “La Gloria de Johann Sebastián Bach” será la temática principal del Cartagena V Festival Internacional de Música, que presentará los conciertos Brandenburgueses de Johann Sebastián Bach, originalmente titulados por el compositor Concerts avec plusiers instruments (Conciertos con diversidad de instrumentos). Son una serie de 6 conciertos escritos por encargo del Margrave de Brandenburgo, Christian Ludwing, cuya dedicatoria data del 24 de marzo de 1721. Redescubiertos en los archivos de la Biblioteca de Brandenburgo en 1849 y publicados por primera vez el siguiente año.
